Lifeguard Training
The American Red Cross Lifeguard Training is a 25-hour course that provides participants with the knowledge, skills and training to become a lifeguard. Participants must be 15 years of age on or before the final scheduled session of the course.  All classes are held at the Ascension St. Vincent YMCA. There is a $50 non-refundable registration fee that will be applied to the course fee as long as the pre-course is passed.

Lifeguard Training Precourse Help Sessions
Not sure if your skills or endurance are where they need to be to pass the lifeguard training precourse test? In a small group or individual setting, our instructors can help to prep you for the precourse by evaluating and instructing you on stroke technique and endurance training specific to passing all of the entry requirements for the lifeguard training.

$15 per 1/2 hour session (YM) and $25 per 1/2 hour session (NM)

Lifeguarding Recertification
This course recertifies lifeguards in Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer all in one class! Individuals with a current Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certificate may participate in this review course. All classes are held at the St. Vincent YMCA.  Classes are held in the Spring and schedule will be posted when secured.

Water Safety Instructor Training
The American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor course trains instructor candidates to teach Parent and Child Aquatics, Preschool Aquatics, Learn-to-Swim, Adult Swim, and water safety courses and presentations. Water Safety instructor candidates must be at least 16 years old on or before the last scheduled date of the course. The course fee of $225 includes all materials needed for the course. There will also be an additional $35 fee that will be paid to the Red cross when you set up your instructor account.

Lifeguard Instructor Course
This course prepares participants to teach American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, including First Aid & CPR for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Providers, Shallow Water Lifeguarding, Waterfront Skills, Waterpark Skills, Administering Emergency Oxygen and Bloodborne Pathogens Training: Preventing Disease Transmission courses and/or modules. Instructor candidates will also become familiar with GuardStart, Lifeguard Management, Safety Training for Swim Coaches and Basic Water Rescue. The training prepares instructor candidates by developing their understanding of how to use the course materials and methods, how to conduct training sessions, and how to evaluate participant’s progress. The course fee of $225 includes all materials needed for the course. There will also be an additional $25 fee that will be paid to the Red Cross when you set up your instructor account.

PREREQUISITES: All candidates must be at least 17 years of age by the last scheduled session of the course, successfully complete an online orientation, precourse exam, and precourse session.

*(YM) means YMCA member, which have full use of the St. Vincent and Dunigan YMCAs.
(NM) means Non-Member, which are enrolled in an individual YMCA program without being a YMCA Member.
