Back-to-Work Recovery Childcare Program - YMCA of Southwestern Indiana

Back-to-Work Recovery Childcare Program

The Back-to-Work Recovery Childcare program will provide on-site childcare services for children 5-12 years old to support the needs of employees and bring childcare GAP support to families/employees returning to work starting July 6th.

With schools and childcare centers closed across the country, 60% of U.S. parents say they’ve had no outside childcare during the coronavirus pandemic, according to a new survey from
Boston Consulting Group. Instead, millions have spent the duration attempting to work from home while also caring for kids, with varying levels of success.

Even as the state of Indiana reopens and life begins to return to a new normal, it could be harder than ever to find quality care. A recently-conducted local five-county survey identified the need for quality childcare services so the YMCA of Southwestern Indiana will begin the Back-to-Work Recovery Childcare program beginning July 6th.

Current sites include:

  • Crossroads Christian Church (5-9 year olds) >> 10800 Lincoln Ave, Newburgh, IN 47630
  • CK Newsome Center (10-12 year olds) >> 100 Walnut St # 1, Evansville, IN 47713

Programming runs Monday – Friday and begins at 8:00am and ends at 4:00pm, however, childcare participants can be dropped off as early as 6:30am and picked up as late as 5:30pm to accommodate work schedules.

The Y is intentional about creating an active learning environment under supervision of qualified professional staff.  We focus on the social and emotional learning of participants so as to foster a well-balanced child. We also provide educational enrichment on a daily basis using the Think Stretch Curriculum reinforcing academic achievement on an age appropriate level for the participants.  Each week we’ll have a new STEM-inspired theme, with a variety of daily activities focusing on:

  • Academic Support
  • Character Development
  • Physical Fitness and Nutrition
