Reopening Guidelines

We are excited to begin reopening our facilities on Sunday, May 24th. We plan to follow all local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines to re-open our wellness centers in the safest way possible as that information becomes available and/or changes. On May 24th, we will begin reopening in phases and will gradually get back to our new normal. To keep our members and staff safe and protected while using our facilities, you can expect the following guidelines.

YMCA Phase 1 Changes

Facility Access

  • If you’ve been notified by the Department of Health of exposure to COVID-19, do not use the Y until 14 days after your exposure.
  • If you or anyone in your household are showing symptoms of Fever, Cough, or Shortness of Breath, please refrain from using the Y until fever-free for 72 hours.
  • Staff will take temperatures at the front door with an infrared, non-contact thermometer. Anyone (members, staff, or program participants) with a temperature > 99.8º will not be permitted to enter.
  • No sales/redemption of guest passes or nationwide membership access will be allowed.
  • No one under the age of 14 allowed without a parent/ guardian.
  • Members should have their YMCA scan card ready.
  • 6ft social distancing will be maintained throughout the building.
  • Both facilities will be open 5AM – 9PM M-Th, 5AM – 8PM Fri, 6AM – 6PM Sat, and 12PM – 6PM Sun. Memorial Day holiday hours will be 5AM – 2PM.
  • Additional signage will be placed throughout the building to encourage social distancing, hand-washing, and cleanliness.

 

Locker Rooms

  • We encourage you to come ready in your workout clothes. Locker rooms will be limited to 12 persons at a time.
  • Please bring your own lock, try to use every fourth locker and try to position yourself relative to others for social distancing.
  • Towel service will not be available. We encourage you to bring your own towel.
  • Wash your hands often and before exiting the locker rooms.
  • Saunas will not be available.

 

Gym

  • Gymnasiums will be available for Individual Basketball Play only, no game play and a limit of 3 Persons or 1 Family per basket/goal.
  • Pickleball play will be available at this time. *This guideline updated 5/18/2020.

 

Wellness Center

  • Wellness areas will be limited to 75 people at a time.
  • Do your part, stay 6ft apart, and keep a machine in between.
  • Members should wipe down machines before and after use with cleaning spray (which will be given to you upon entering) and paper towels.
  • Use hand sanitizing stations and/or wash your hands after use.

 

Track

  • The track will be limited to 12 users at a time.

 

Cycle Studio

  • Studios will have 8 bikes available for 30-min virtual classes only.

 

Pool *These guidelines updated 5/22/2020.

  • Pools will open May 29th (pending Health Dept approval) for lap swimming and water walking (Dunigan) for individuals 14+ years old. Limited to 2 people per lane. Click here for pool schedules >>
  • Lap lanes or walking lanes can be reserved in one hour intervals for 45-minutes of activity (lap swimming, water walking, etc) during designated times on the pool schedule. This will allow transition and cleaning protocols in between swimmers. Reservations may be made no more than 3 days in advance. Click here to make a reservation >>
  • Equipment such as kickboards, fins, etc will be available for use. These will have a specific return bin and be sanitized each hour.
  • Paddleboard and Hydrorider classes will start June 1st. We ask that participants do not arrive early to limit the number of people on deck. Other water fitness classes will return at a later date. Click here for pool schedules >>
  • Towel service will not be available. We encourage you to bring your own towel.

 

Services That Are NOT Available at this Time

  • Child Watch and Youth Activity Centers will not be available.
  • Coffee service and social areas such as lounges will not be available.
  • In-person Group Exercise will not be available but we will continue posting virtual content on our Virtual Y that can be done at home.

 

Additional staff will be placed throughout the facilities to monitor area capacities and social distancing, to clean/sanitize surfaces and equipment throughout the day, and will be required to wear masks and PPE.

 

A Clean Environment

  • Staff will be required to wear PPE like face masks while interacting with members/participants and while cleaning/disinfecting surfaces and areas.
  • Additional barriers like sneeze guards will be placed at the membership and wellness desks.
  • Contact with surfaces will be limited as much as possible including members scanning their own YMCA cards and ongoing sanitation of shared/community materials like pens.
  • Shared surfaces such as countertops, phones, computer keyboards, and touchscreens will be cleaned throughout the day.
  • Machines and equipment (such basketballs and kickboards) will be cleaned before and after use. Members will be given a bottle of cleaner at the wellness desk when they enter the Wellness area. Equipment (in gym or pool) will be sanitized by staff before and after use.

 

We will continue to review these guidelines regularly and communicate through email, our website, and social media to meet federal, state, and local guidance. We will continue providing virtual resources for our members who are still sheltering at home.
