Reopening Guidelines

We are excited to to have reopened our facilities. We plan to follow all local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines to re-open our facilities in the safest way possible as that information becomes available and/or changes. We will reopen in phases and gradually get back to our new normal. To keep our members and staff safe and protected while using our facilities, you can expect the following guidelines.

YMCA Changes In Effect

Facility Access

  • If you’ve been notified by the Department of Health of exposure to COVID-19, do not use the Y until 14 days after your exposure.
  • If you or anyone in your household are showing symptoms of Fever, Cough, or Shortness of Breath, please refrain from using the Y until fever-free for 72 hours.
  • Staff will take temperatures at the front door with an infrared, non-contact thermometer. Anyone (members, staff, or program participants) with a temperature > 99.8º will not be permitted to enter.
  • Per Executive Order, members and program participants (6+ years old) will be required to wear a face mask. Please bring your own mask and wear it in all common areas and shared spaces until you start exercising when you may remove it for the duration of physical activity. Please mask back up when you are finished with your workout.
  • No sales/redemption of guest passes or nationwide membership access will be allowed.
  • No one under the age of 14 allowed without a parent/ guardian.
  • Members should have their YMCA scan card ready.
  • 6ft social distancing will be maintained throughout the building.
  • Both facilities will be open 5AM – 9PM M-Th, 5AM – 8PM Fri, 6AM – 6PM Sat, and 12PM – 6PM Sun.
  • Additional signage will be placed throughout the building to encourage social distancing, hand-washing, and cleanliness.

Locker Rooms

  • We encourage you to come ready in your workout clothes. Locker rooms will be limited to 12 persons at a time.
  • Please bring your own lock, try to use every fourth locker and try to position yourself relative to others for social distancing.
  • Towel service will not be available. We encourage you to bring your own towel.
  • Wash your hands often and before exiting the locker rooms.
  • Saunas will not be available.


  • Gymnasiums will be available for basketball and pickleball.

Wellness Center

  • Wellness areas will be limited to 75 people at a time.
  • Do your part, stay 6ft apart, and keep a machine in between.
  • Members should wipe down machines before and after use with cleaning spray (which will be given to you upon entering) and paper towels.
  • Use hand sanitizing stations and/or wash your hands after use.


  • The track will be limited to 12 users at a time.

Cycle Studio

  • Studios will have 8 bikes available for 30-min virtual classes only.


  • Pools are open for lap swimming and water walking for individuals 14+ years old. Limited to 2 people per lane. Click here for pool schedules >>
  • Lap lanes or walking lanes can be reserved in one hour intervals for 55 minutes of activity (lap swimming, water walking, etc) during designated times on the pool schedule. We accept reservations 72 hours in advance. Requests will be reviewed Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. Please try to reserve at least 24 hours in advance or if you are reserving for the weekend, please send in your requests by Friday at 5pm.   • Open Swim is available at certain times in our pools. Click here for pool schedules >>
  • Equipment such as kickboards, fins, etc will be available for use. These will have a specific return bin and will be sanitized each hour.
  • Paddleboard and Hydrorider classes will be available. We ask that participants do not arrive early to limit the number of people on deck. Click here for pool schedules >>
  • Water fitness classes have resumed in the pool. Registration is required and available now online or by calling or stopping by the front desk at either location.
  • Towel service will not be available. We encourage you to bring your own towel.

Group Exercise

  • Active Older Adult classes such as Silversneakers has resumed see schedules for available classes.
  • Hot Yoga is now available at both locations. Please bring your own mat, equipment, towel, and water bottle.
  • Members will be required to sign in at the beginning of each class so we can monitor capacity.
  • Equipment will be cleaned before and after each class.
  • We will not be providing mats, towels, hand wraps, or boxing gloves at this time.
  • There will be NO Aerial Yoga or TRX at this time.

Youth Services

  • Child Watch is open for children 6wks – 6 years old…Hours will be as follows:
  • Youth Activity Center hours are:
    • Ascension St Vincent YMCA – M-TH 3:30 – 7 pm/SAT 7- 11 am (When school is out YDC hours are the same as Child Watch)
    • Dunigan Family YMCA – M-TH 3:30-7:00pm/SAT 8am-12pm/SUN 2-6pm

Services That Are NOT Available at this Time

  • Coffee service is not available.
  • The outdoor Splash Pad at the Dunigan Family YMCA is not available.
  • The outdoor playground at the Dunigan Family YMCA is not available.

A Clean Environment

  • Staff are required to wear PPE like face masks while interacting with members/participants and while cleaning/disinfecting surfaces and areas.
  • Additional barriers like sneeze guards will be placed at the membership and wellness desks.
  • Contact with surfaces will be limited as much as possible including members scanning their own YMCA cards and ongoing sanitation of shared/community materials like pens.
  • Shared surfaces such as countertops, phones, computer keyboards, and touchscreens will be cleaned throughout the day.
  • Machines and equipment (such basketballs and kickboards) will be cleaned before and after use. Members will be given a bottle of cleaner at the wellness desk when they enter the Wellness area. Equipment (in gym or pool) will be sanitized by staff before and after use.


We will continue to review these guidelines regularly and communicate through email, our website, and social media to meet federal, state, and local guidance. We will continue providing virtual resources for our members who are still sheltering at home.
