Our Swim Team Prep programs are for youth who want to join a swim team in the future or who just love the sport of swimming and want to continue with it as their form of exercise. It is an introduction to how swim teams work and a great opportunity for swimmers to build endurance and develop stroke techniques that will better prepare them if they choose to pursue competitive swimming. There are so many benefits to swimming, including having a lifesaving skill, great exercise, and a lifelong skill. Swimming teaches responsibility, discipline, patience, and compassion.
Swimmers must be able to swim the length of a 25-yard pool and complete a 45-minute practice. This program is for swimmers aged 5-14.

The YMCA Riptides Swim Team provides a supportive and encouraging environment where the concepts of teamwork and sportsmanship are consistently reinforced. Each swimer will learn, grow and thrive by developing the skills and relationships they need to be healthy, confident and connected to others. The team is open to children ages 6-18. Swimmers must be able to complete 50 meters without stopping, have the ability to swim crawl stroke and backstroke and complete at least a 1-hour practice.
