YMCA Sports provides year-round gymnastics programming and training designed to assist participants with the advancement of their individual skill level. Each program is structured and lead by experienced gymnastics staff that are dedicated to each child’s skill development. Gymnastics program levels are available from introductory to advanced and program structure is designed to nurture skill development, teamwork and sportsmanship.
Focus on building confidence and self reliance while working to develop coordination, strength and flexibility in a fun and instructional setting. Rolls, handstands, learning positions and entry level skills on bars, beams and vault are the focus of this class.
This program functions as an open play gymnastics time. Each participant will be accompanied by their parent while moving at their own pace from desired station to desired station. This is a great introductory program for students not yet ready for an instructor-led class on their own. Our gymnastics instructors will be on site if needed to answer questions and to ensure safety. This is not a class led by our gymnastics coaches. Instructor-led classes begin at the junior gym level. A PARENT MUST ACCOMPANY EACH CHILD TO EACH CLASS SESSION AND PARTICIPANTS SHOULD WEAR COMFORTABLE CLOTHING.
This class builds confidence and self-reliance while developing listening skills, coordination, strength, and flexibility in a fun setting. This is a basic, entry-level class for pre-school age children. Students will learn forward rolls, backward rolls, handstands, cartwheels, and entry-level skills on bars, beam, and vault.
This class is focused on teaching basic tumbling. Students will work on front and back walkovers, cartwheels, and round-offs. This class is excellent for students who wish to build confidence, strength, and floor skills. Tumbling is also a great class for cheerleaders wishing to build on their floor tumbling skills.
