STEM Takes Flight at Evansville Regional Airport

Today, youth from our CenterPoint Energy YMCA — Caldwell Center took a behind-the-scenes look at Evansville Regional Airport — from the board room to the checkpoint to the airfield.

Local youth learned about airfield lighting systems from EVV’s Assistant Director of Public Safety, Eddie Peterson, and visited with TSA officers for a close-up look at screening technology and procedures.

The visit wrapped up out on the airfield, where students experienced the excitement of aviation up close — the perfect inspiration for their upcoming Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) project to apply simple circuitry skills and create illuminated holiday centerpieces of Santa’s sleigh landing at the North Pole!
